The Taj Mahal
Always a top choice for any traveler, this legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site, a beautiful marble mausoleum that dates to the 17th century, is one of the world’s most recognizable tourist attractions and an iconic Indian architectural treasure. It’s a featured stop on Immersion Journeys itineraries, including our Golden Triangle  tour. For the best photographs, consider arriving before sunrise so that you can capture the most beautiful lighting and colors. Make use of the reflecting pools to create even more dramatic effects.

Jaipur (the 'pink' city)

Also featured in the Golden Triangle itinerary is Jaipur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s also known as the “pink city” thanks to the dramatic hues of its buildings. Those eye-catching colors make Jaipur — which was founded in 1727 by the ruler Jai Sing II — an especially lovely place to take postcard-perfect photos.

Jodhpur (the 'blue city')

If you’re looking to inject diversity into your photographic color palate, you won’t want to miss Jodhpur. In striking contrast to the pink city of Jaipur, Jodhpur is called the blue city — and that makes for still more unique photo opportunities. Its picturesque winding streets create excellent backdrops for people photos, too.

Old Delhi

You’ll find lots of visual inspiration in the busy streets of this metropolitan area. In Old Delhi, the bustling streets of Chandini Chowk, one of the city’s busiest markets, are a treat for the senses. Food, books, clothing and leather goods are just a few of the things that you’ll find here, and the nonstop flow of people is equally inspiring for photographers. In New Delhi, focus your lens on the Red Fort, a handsome 17th-century structure graced with turrets and bastions, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Both Chandini Chowk and the Red Fort are featured stops on our Classic India itinerary.

The Eye of the Tiger

The appropriately named Tigers & Kings itinerary provides myriad opportunities to photograph a diverse array of wildlife, during two exciting days of game drives in Ranthambore National Park, one of the largest parks in northern India. You can keep your eyes open (and your camera ready) for animals that range from tigers and leopards to hyenas, as well as plenty of beautiful bird species. Drives are timed for the morning and evening, to ensure maximum viewing and photo opportunities. Be sure to bring a lens for long-distance shooting.

Khajuraho

Featured in the Classic India itinerary, the Western Group of Temples is a collection of Hindu and Jain temples in Khajuraho. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the much-photographed structures are excellent examples of temple architectural symbolism and feature erotic sculptures that never fail to attract attention — and photographers.

The Himalayas

Taking photos at sunrise is one of the best ways to show any destination in its best light, and when you include Himalayas in the shot, it’s even more impressive. During the itinerary called East India: Temple Mythology & Mountain Peaks, participants can snap photos while exploring the region against a backdrop of the Eastern Himalayas and the peak of Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world.

Sigriya Rock (Sri Lanka)

This dramatic ancient rock fortress, located in Sri Lanka’s Central Province, is both a natural and historic treasure. Centuries ago, King Kashyapa built his palace atop this gigantic rock, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sri Lanka Cultural Trail itinerary is among the best choices for exploring this photogenic destination.

Kandy (Sri Lanka)

Once the capital of Sri Lanka’s ancient kings, Kandy is home to an array of rich visuals, ranging from lush tropical forests to tea plantations and spice gardens, as well as a vibrant market where colorful goods are bought and sold.  Wherever you go with Immersion Journeys, our expert guides will help you discover the best visuals to capture and take home.
