After having my second child I struggled to get into an exercise routine, it was so difficult to find the time. I started working out on my own at home using video programs. They were fine, but I was pretty unmotivated to push myself and I did not change my eating habits at all. A good friend encouraged me to sign up for nutrition coaching and I begrudgingly signed up, not entirely realizing what I was signing up for.
This was a turning point for me. I suddenly had someone holding me accountable to eating well and getting into an early morning workout routine. I learned a lot about the food I was eating too much of, and what I should be eating more of. I began cutting out some of the bad stuff and replacing it with good stuff. It became a habit. I began to gravitate toward making healthier food choices and gave in less to junk food cravings. I started to look forward to body back class days. Getting up in the dark morning hours still felt early, but I was excited to get out of bed and head to class. At the end of the program I had lost 6 lbs, which was more than I imagined I could lose, but more importantly, I gained a healthier lifestyle and a drive to
continue eating well and exercising regularly- something that has stuck with me since! I am forever grateful to the friend who convinced me to sign up, and to my coach Kim who set me on the path to better health. I found my tribe with Fit4Mom.

Nutrition Coaching is different. With other weight loss programs, I felt like I wasn't able to eat enough and felt defeated every time I went over my allotment. It was quite eye opening when Jennifer told me to ignore calories.  The focus on what foods I'm eating, instead of how much, was very eye opening. On other diet programs, there were so many foods that were considered bad for you. With nutrition coaching, I eat foods that appeal to me, including nuts, cheese, avocados and (yes) pasta. Originally, I was nervous about having someone look at my food log, but the guidance was super positive and friendly, so I was willing to make the suggested changes.  There was no shaming (even with all the cupcakes).

Nutritional coaching changed the way I eat. Before, I dieted on Weight Watchers, but it was a lot of counting points and I was often hungry. [Nutrition Coaching] got me to focus more on what I eat (not how much) and increase my protein intake, which was too low. I learned that small changes in my diet made a big difference - like adding beans to a salad or coupling a protein with fruit for a snack. It also got me to eat more veggies. Kim’s weekly review of my food journal motivated me to stay on track and she always offered helpful suggestions to tweak my diet for optimal results.  In 4 months, I got down to my pre-kid, wedding weight!  I never thought that would be possible. I continue to eat a high protein, high vegetable diet. I’m not perfect in my eating, but I’ve managed to maintain my weight loss. I highly recommend the nutritional coaching.

Last week I was reminded about my number one reason for joining FIT4MOM - my daughter. E is 9 years old, almost 5 feet tall, over 70lbs, and has disabilities which require physical support. Two years ago I was suffering from terrible back pain, not feeling great about myself, and my ability to care for E. A dear friend introduced me to FIT4MOM and the Body Back classes, and I haven't been the same since! 

Within weeks I was gaining strength in parts of my body I had neglected for so long. My back felt better, and I felt better about myself. This past January I decided to join the Nutrition program. I learned about good foods to add into my diet, how to better balance it (even on the go!), and what my triggers are (and how to better manage them). Since November of 2017 I am down almost 20lbs (about 12lbs since January)! 

Most importantly, last week when I had a day that involved E tripping and almost falling twice, getting her in/out of the pool for swim lessons, then a bath - I was able to do it without any worries.

I feel terrific, and cannot thank Jennifer and the team enough for their guidance, encouragement, and occasional kick in the rear. This is a beautiful community, and I am so thankful to be a part of it!
