The Responsible Recreation Toolkit

Resources to prepare you for a safe and responsible visit.
No matter how you get out, make sure to practice responsible recreation. Here are a few things to remember when visiting our parks:
  • Know before you go. The most important part of your visit happens before you arrive. Read up on our tips to make your visit as safe as possible.
  • Leave no trace. Make sure everything you bring to the park leaves with you or is disposed of appropriately in the recycling or trash.
  • Leave what you find. While we encourage the removal of any unnatural items you find while outdoors, such as trash, we encourage you to leave all plants, animals, and artifacts you find.
  • Respect Wildlife. Keep your distance. Don't attempt to touch or feed wildlife. Keep your pets on a leash at all times.
  • Be considerate of others. People come to the outdoors to experience the sights and sounds of nature. Be respectful of others and try not to detract from another visitor's experience with your actions.
  • Follow park policies and signage. View our policies here.
