We’re thrilled to celebrate one of our own—Nutrition student Haana Gibbs, who has been named the 2025 Outstanding Student in a Didactic Program in Dietetics by the Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics!
Before stepping into the world of dietetics, Haana was pursuing a professional ballet career. That experience sparked her interest in sports nutrition but also brought challenges. “Like many of my peers, I struggled with disordered eating,” she shared. “I heavily relied on advice from the internet and teachers until I met Rachel Fine, a dietitian who works with dancers. She helped me begin the journey of healing and showed me that all foods can fit in a healthy diet.”
Now, Haana is passionate about helping others find that same freedom. Her long-term goal is to open a private practice specializing in sports and eating disorders, with a team of dietitians and a strong community outreach component—including cooking classes and support groups. She also values the importance of balance: “I love kids and want to have a family one day. A healthy work-life balance is something I definitely want to prioritize.”
Looking back, she credits much of her success to her support system—both at home and at Texas A&M. “Dr. Beathard truly pours so much into every student. I owe so much to her and to the amazing faculty in our department. They’ve shown me the kind of dietitian I want to be.”
Congratulations, Haana, on this well-deserved honor—we’re so proud to have you represent the Department of Nutrition!
