Dr. Donita Cartmill's Turf Grass Management class recently made a trip to Miller Park on on a led tour by Michael Boettcher the Director of the Grounds at Miller Park. Here is what a few students had to say about their experience:
"It was an extremely beneficial experience, if Turfgrass is something you are interested in. It was a somewhat eerie experience being on the field with the whole stadium empty knowing what normally goes on there. I took a lot away from the superintendents presentation, mainly, how much work it takes to accomplish what he does. This trip was an eye opener in regards to my interest in turf-grass."            -Phil Wojciak

"I thought the trip was very beneficial. For turf management professional sports, especially major league baseball, is the highest level of field quality so getting to see first hand all the thought, planning and hard work that goes into maintaining that high standard can be eye opening on how you see this class benefiting your future in the industry. I am big into baseball myself so I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot about the products used on the field and MLB standard dimensions of the infield. The best part of the whole experience would definitely be walking the warning track around the entire field and sitting in the dugouts."        -Tyler Ernzen
