On November 29th the Agribusiness club had the pleasure of welcoming presenter, and alumni, Eric Leach of Liqui-Grow Balanced Fertilizers. Upon graduation Leach began working at the Elkhorn Liqui-Grow location and had excelled their ever since.

"I find this job very rewarding. When the farmer's have success, we too have success." Leach said when discussing his favorite part of his career. Also mentioning the vast array of responsibilities his job holds and how it keeps him on his toes and prevents his job from becoming stale. Leach also touched on the importance of preparation and knowing your audience while working in sales. Noting that pre-call planning is essential to great success when selling.

Liqui-Grow has been a family owned & operated company since 1958. Founded in Iowa by the Tinsman brothers, Hovey and Scott, they developed a manufacturing process for clear liquid fertilizer analysis for the agricultural market in eastern Iowa and northwestern Illinois. Since then, Liqui-Grow has grown to include three production plants, sixteen retail locations, and a network of dealers that serve customers in the Midwest.

Now led by Scott Tinsman, Jr., Hov Tinsman III, and Bruce Tinsman, Liqui-Grow has grown to employ 125 full-time and some 200 seasonal employees. They have concentrated on hiring quality staff in all areas, including administration, production, research, sales, and application. In addition to product quality and timely delivery, they claim their rigorous training program and team approach has been critical to their success.
