Students Attend Wisconsin Winter Workshop

Ten Reclamation, Environment and Conservation students attended the Wisconsin Winter Fire Conference held at UW-Stevens Point on February 16. The workshop was partially organized by Dr. Yari Johnson in coordination with the Tallgrass Prairie & Oak Savanna Fire Science Consortium, the Lakes States Fire Science Consortium, The Nature Conservancy, the Wisconsin Prescribed Fire Council, the US Forest Service, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The workshop brought together researchers, practitioners, professionals, and students to learn about the science and art of wildland fire as a land management tool.

In addition to organizing the workshop, Dr. Johnson set up and ran a networking session that introduced students from UW-Platteville, UW-Madison, UW-Green Bay, and UW-Stevens Point to professionals from around the Upper Midwest. About 40 students and 30 professionals attended the networking session in total.
