Brag About Ag

Collegiate Farm Bureau’s annual “Brag About Ag” event, held on Thursday, March 15th, was a resounding success! Speakers Rob Richard and Ethan Giebel shared their knowledge and experience in governmental relations and advocating for agriculture. This event was open to students, faculty, staff, and the public. Attendance was high with 63 individuals present. A complementary meal, provided by the Collegiate Farm Bureau Chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, preceded the guest speakers.

Rob Richard is the Senior Director of Governmental Relations for Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation. He focused his presentation on how Farm Bureau, a grassroots organization, tackles issues that impact rural Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Farm Bureau works on issues such as the Farm Bill, broadband, zoning regulations, raw milk, and growing hemp. Rob works with legislators, to help them understand why these issues are important to rural Wisconsin communities.

Ethan Giebel is the Government and Educational Service Director for Cooperative Network. He shared how Cooperative Network defends and promotes cooperative businesses in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The Cooperative Network takes care of all cooperatives’ advocacy needs such as, health care, finances, farm supplies, and livestock. Ethan drove home the point on why advocating is so important, it is so your voice will be heard.

Thank you to all who attended Collegiate Farm Bureau’s “Brag About Ag” event.
