Employee Safety Bulletin
Recent events have sparked demonstrations, protests, and civil unrest across the nation. While most of the demonstrations have been peaceful, our associates may find themselves in the middle of a dangerous or violent situation. Please keep the following guidance in mind to help ensure everyone's safety:
Protests or police activity at or near an Aramark office or client location
If you encounter a tense situation, these guidelines may be helpful:
- Do not engage in a verbal confrontation.
- If you must cross protests, picket lines or groups, do so quickly; avoid any contact.
- If you feel unsafe, leave the area, contact security, and refer to emergency protocols.
- If the protesters or police are moving, remain secured in a building and wait for them to pass.
Inside a Vehicle During Protests
Protesters will often march on roads and highways to disrupt travel. Here are some helpful tips if you are in a vehicle during a protest:
- Remain calm.
- Never drive toward a crowd or marching protesters.
- If you cannot drive away, park the car, lock it, and leave it. Create distance and take shelter in a building, side street, or doorway.
- If you do not have time to exit the vehicle, put it in park, and turn off the engine. Lock the doors and remain calm. Avoid eye contact and do not show hostility or anger.
- Avoid situations that appear to be violent. This may mean not delivering goods to a particular location.
The safety of our people is paramount. As always, it is a best practice to be aware of your surroundings and call 9-1-1 for emergency services or medical assistance.
