Beauty and nature
Contemplating the beauty of nature has a calming effect when stress and worry start to take hold. What are some of your favorite places? Find a website that has pictures and videos and bookmark it. I keep this one of
the live cam of the kelp forest at the Monterey Bay Aquarium as one of the open tabs in my browser as I work. It runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and has the loveliest, soothing music in the background. I highly recommend it!
Old photo albums and memories
When facing an uncertain future, taking some time to remember happy memories from the past is like a tonic. Try pulling out some old photo albums and relive old memories of good times, the places you've visited and people you've met.
Favorite songs & music (dance like no one is watching!)
Music has the power to energize and heal and comfort and connect us with others through lyrical storytelling of what it is to be human. Who are your favorites? Pull out their CDs or stream your favorite songs. A few nights ago I put on the Beatles “A Hard Day's Night” (the British Parlophone version) and it boosted my spirits like nothing else. I sang along and danced about like no one was watching. (One of the benefits of living alone!)
Be well everyone. Until we meet (face-to-face) again...
