Professor Mike Young's physics lectures inspire a worldwide audience
Years ago, physics professor Mike Young started to video his lectures so that students could review them after class. As time passed, Mike started to get emails from students across the country and then across the world who had watched his videos on YouTube.
“This whole ‘lecturing’ via YouTube has been a fun adventure. I never thought I would be helping students in so many places around the world (many non-English-speaking) and surpassing a million views of students interested in learning physics. Getting "thank you" notes in my email account from around the world has been both satisfying and uplifting. The students/viewers are always so grateful.”
Here are just a few of the comments Mike has received:
“I am an undergraduate physics major in my junior year at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. I’m sending you an email partially to thank you for helping me understand physics through your online video courses via YouTube. Your lectures have helped me understand the fundamentals of physics better than any other professor/online videos/textbooks I have previously encountered, and in my opinion you are the best physics professor I have come across both in the real world and on the internet.”
“I have listened to all of your series 121, 122 and 123 lectures on YouTube. I am 56 years old and although I have only A-Level physics here in the UK, I can follow your lectures because they are simply brilliant. Thank you for allowing them to appear on YouTube.”
“I am a student from UCR currently studying introduction to physics. I just wanted to say thank you for posting your amazing lectures on YouTube, they are very helpful explaining the concepts and how to approach problems. Again, thank you Dr. Young for helping me learn the skills not just to be a better student but also to appreciate the subject.”
Sir Mike Young,
I'm a Korean electrical engineering student holding 2nd Class Electrical FE. (In South Korea, we divide FE level from 1 to 2, Community College level to University level.) I’ve watched your explanation about RLC circuit that was posted on YouTube yesterday, and just wanted to tell you how easy and understanding your lecture was and wanted to send you appreciation about it. Thank you for your help that taught me so much.
