Bessie Fong ’17, holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and attributes much of her professional success to the foundational experiences she gained during her time at Central. As the founder of two successful production companies, Bessie draws a direct connection between her education and her entrepreneurial achievements. One pivotal experience was a practicum class where she engaged with classmates to deepen their artistic toolbox through a variety of exercises and guest speakers. Students often opted for off campus ways to earn credit like attending local plays and events but, Bessie recognized the importance of showing up in person. This decision proved to be transformative: on one day, a guest speaker introduced Bessie to a program at the Tony Award Winning National Musical Theater Institute. With the support of her professors and the financial aid department, she secured a spot in the program and even enabled her to count the 14-week program as a study-away experience. During her time there, she formed valuable connections, with world class performers and industry professionals.
While attending Central Bessie worked at the Apple Store in West Farms Mall as the first Female Creative Pro in Lower New England. After graduation she moved to NYC and transferred to the Global Flags Ship store where she held multiple roles as a Lead Genius, Business Lead, and I&D Lead for AAPI. It was there Bessie met four creative professionals who would become co-founders of
The Seed Collective. Born out of a desire to take control of their careers, the production company has produced several award-winning short films, music videos and documentaries. She also is the founder and owner of
Bessie Fong Productions, a video media production company working with heart led entrepreneurs in amplifying their message through storytelling. Today, she continues to build on her impressive career and expand her impact in the industry thanks to that one class that changed everything and the many supportive professors from Central that helped her get there.
