Alumni Profile

Kayla Miller '16
Founder, STEM Kings and Queens

Kayla is transforming science education in under-resourced communities and across a broad range of school systems, bridging the gap between PK-12 learning and emerging technology industries. She is the founder of STEM Kings & Queens, an innovative education company that designs and delivers workshops in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and entrepreneurship for PK–12 students. STEM Kings & Queens also trains educators, program facilitators, and industry professionals in educational content delivery and best practices for working with schools, communities, and PK-12 learners. The organization emphasizes real-world applications and highlights the achievements of historically underrepresented individuals in STEM and entrepreneurial fields.

STEM Kings & Queens led Kayla to become an education director in the fusion energy sector, where she spent several years leading initiatives focused on science education and public engagement before transitioning back to entrepreneurial work.

Kayla earned her degree in Biomolecular Sciences from Central, studying under the mentorship of Dr. Kathy Martin, Chair of the Biomolecular Sciences Department—whom she remains connected with to this day. Kayla was also a member of Central’s Women's Basketball Team from 2012-2016.

Passionate about making science both accessible and engaging, Kayla is committed to developing curriculum that is educational, inclusive, and fun for students of all backgrounds. She recently shared her expertise at two Harvard University events: on a Career Panel for high school students in a workforce program and as a panelist at the inaugural Amped & Wired Summit hosted by the Harvard Undergraduate Clean Energy Group (HUCEG), furthering her mission to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.
