Dominique Mohamed '21
Dominique Mohamed
From arriving at Central as a sophomore with 30 college credits to becoming a rising professional in both tech and digital marketing, Dominique has built a career defined by innovation, ambition, and community impact. In her earliest days on campus, Dominique gravitated toward the School of Business, ultimately earning a double major in Management Information Systems and Finance, with a minor in Economics. This academic foundation set the stage for a multifaceted career that blends technology, leadership, creativity, and global exploration.

Dominique serves as a Tech Lead at Travelers Insurance, where she leads a team of data engineers and analysts. Her experience in the corporate space became the catalyst for her next chapter: entrepreneurship. Dominique’s first Travelers position, based in Tennessee, sparked her now-signature love for travel. In her first year working at Travelers, she visited eight countries and ten states, fueling the global perspective that inspires her work today. She has now explored 26 countries and over 100 cities worldwide.

Dominique is also the founder of Lux Studio Marketing, a rapidly growing marketing agency working with hotels, resorts, lifestyle brands, financial institutions, and luxury apartment complexes in downtown Hartford. What began as a passion for travel and content creation under her digital brand @DommyTheTravelista has evolved into a thriving business powered by strategy, storytelling, and results. With four team members supporting the agency’s expansion, Dominique continues to elevate brands through high-impact social media campaigns for clients like Liberty Bank, MGM, Disney on Broadway, Yale New Haven Health, Big Y, and more.

At the heart of her success is her Central experience. Courses in management, communications, finance, and technology shaped her ability to build websites, develop brands, communicate effectively, and run her own business finances. Faculty mentors such as Crissy Conte, Assistant Dean of the School of Business, and Dr. Carolyne Soper, a professor in Economics, played a defining role: “Dr. Soper is the reason I added my economics minor, I wanted to take every economics class with her,” she said.

Her connection to Central remains strong. She regularly returns to campus for mentorship events, resume reviews, mock student interviews, and speaking engagements, including panels for first-year students, marketing classes, and sophomore professional development programs. “I love sharing the steps I took,” she explained. “College can be overwhelming, but if students can see what’s possible when they take advantage of the opportunities, that’s what matters.”

For Dominique, giving back to Central is personal:
“Central was the catalyst for everything that I have accomplished today, and I hope my story reminds students that you don’t need a perfect plan. You just have to bet on yourself, and you’ll go farther than you think.”
