More About the Event
What is an Investiture?
An investiture is a time-honored academic tradition marking the formal installation of a new college president. It celebrates the continuity of leadership and the connection between the institution, its students, and the community. This is Amarillo College’s first investiture, and we’re making it a joyful, community-focused celebration.
Is attendance mandatory for AC employees?
Attendance is encouraged but not required. We understand departments may need to stagger attendance. Talk to your supervisor if you have questions about attendance.
Will the College be closed for the Investiture?
No. The College will remain open to serve the community, though some departments may modify schedules to accommodate attendance.
Will the Investiture be livestreamed?
Yes. A livestream link to the ceremony will be available {here} on the day of the event.

What happens after the ceremony?
We’ll move right into a fun celebration with lunch from local food trucks, live music, and time to connect with colleagues, friends, and fellow community members.
Who can attend?
While capacity is somewhat limited, we invite AC faculty, staff, retirees, students, community invitees and their guests to join us in this celebration.
Is there a cost to attend the ceremony or the celebration lunch?
