Updates to Stern's Advanced Standing Policy 

  • When: Effective Fall 2024 (going forward)
  • Who: Classes of 2025, 2026 and 2027 (and all class years thereafter)
  • What: Changes to how exam scores can be applied as advanced standing credit toward your degree

Stern will now accept the following:
AP AB Calculus (score 4 or 5) = Calculus I (MATH-UA 121) (4 credits)

AP Microeconomics (score of 4 or 5) = Non-Stern Electives (4 credits)
AP Macroeconomics (score of 4 or 5) = Non-Stern Electives (4 credits)
IB HL Economics (score of 6 or 7) = Non-Stern Electives
(8 credits)
A-Level Economics (score of B or higher) = Non-Stern Electives (8 credits)

Important Notes:
  • Any credits applied from Advanced Standing for Economics will count as equivalent to non-Stern electives and are NOT equivalent to either Stern's Microeconomics with Algebra (ECON-UB 1) or Microeconomics with Calculus (ECON-UB 2).
