YLCC we run a lot of programs, 14 unique offerings that all focus on youth leadership development; from camps to retreats, LARGE multi-day conferences to small single day events. We run programs in Canada, the US, Europe, and soon Australia. We also produce and present full length documentaries. We are just about to open our NEW media content creation studio in Kitchener. Finally, we also run the BEST
Speakers bureau for educational audiences anywhere in Canada.
We finished our 2017-18 season last Saturday with the closing of another super successful summer at
camp. We saw about 1,700 young leaders from more than a dozen countries visit our beautiful facility on Lake Simcoe. A special thanks goes to our dream team of staff and Directors especially Ash Baer, Sydney, Shelby, Christine, Ben, Andrew, Borden, Jennifer, and Sabrina.
When camp ends people always ask me, “Well, now you have time to rest! Right?”
No.
There is no rest for me or our team.We start shooting content in our new studio this Thursday. The 2018-19 speaking season is already in FULL swing; this month alone our speakers will be in 39 schools across Canada. Our camp facility turns into the
Leadership Training Centre and has it’s first retreat tomorrow (September 5) and doesn’t stop until Thanksgiving. So, basically, it’s always busy... and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
You might wonder how we stay focused with all of these amazing things going on? At summer camp we start each day with reflection time, a chance to set our day up for success. We ask the campers and staff to write 8 gratitudes, a goal for the day, and a WORD of the day. The word of the day is what they hope to say at the end of the day. If I asked them, “How did your day go today?” they would say, “Awesome” or “Complete” or “Full”. Whatever they choose, it must be a real, positive word that makes sense. Other than that, it can be any word they choose.
So as we begin another school year, YLCC’s 26th year as company, what word would you choose? What about your students, your children, your student’s council?
Ask this question and then put that word somewhere you, your kids or your class can see it every day! It should help you stay on course so at the end of the school year when I ask you how your year went, you will say….
What word would I choose? My word, is 'Massive-Positive-Impact'. Oh and, 'STUpendous'!
