It was my birthday this week (mark your calendars for next year, March 12th). I feel so lucky to have survived another 365 days – I did it!
Some people have 1 or 2 weeklong celebrations for their birthday. I get it, it’s a reason for them to party and have fun with friends. I am a little weirded out by these people as I have never been the type to plan my own party. I prefer to keep it more quiet. Full disclosure: While I am in Mexico right now, it’s for March Break. The fact that my birthday falls on this same week is a coincidence.
The one tradition I consistently celebrate on my birthday is to write a massive list in my journal of the things I am grateful for. Regardless of where I am each year, I remember all the people that bring me joy and happiness.
This year my list was long. I am really incredibly blessed. So many people put up with my somewhat erratic creative process; like when I started
SPARK at Canada’s Wonderland, the
Canadian Youth Speakers Bureau,
SPRING OSLC, and of course the
Global Student Leadership Summit . All of these programs came to reality because of the support of the TEAM at
YLCC.
Each year I am also blown away at the amount of STUpendous families that send their incredible children to our
YLCC Summer Camp!
Make a list today of who you are grateful for. I bet it will be rewarding for your soul.
So, to all of those that wished me a happy birthday, thank you! To all of the amazing parents that send their campers to us, you are AWESOME! Every teacher that brings their students to OSLC, SPARK or Rising Above, I appreciate you! Every company and organization that sponsors and supports our events, WOW! You are amazing! To every single seasonal staffer we have throughout the year, you are STUpendous x10
And last but not least, to every one of our full time team: Ash, Christine, Johnny, Borden, Erin, Jenna, Ian, Kara, Nick, Mikey, Lizzie, and Sydney. I am beyond thankful for you! Gracias!
I am excited to see how many more people I will be grateful for next year. Until then…
