Meet the "Local Pairings" Musicians

Heather Camacho and Jesse Fox
from The Lone Canary
The Lone Canary is a Folk/Americana duo comprised of musicians Heather Camacho and Jesse Fox. They have an acoustic, rootsy sound echoing the styles of legendary folk artists. Having been friends and fellow musicians since high school, you can hear the years of shared musicianship in their music; their harmonizing and performing has become second nature.

Heather Camacho is a Rockford native who comes from a musical family. She learned piano and guitar from her parents at home from a young age, and at the age of 10 began violin lessons at The Music Academy of Rockford. She currently teaches private music lessons and is an instructor at Rockford’s Rock and Roll Institute summer camp program. She and her husband, Moises, love to spend time with their families and nearly 20 nieces and nephews.

Rockford native Jesse Fox began guitar lessons at the age of 12 from Heather’s dad, Mark Reed. He was a solo artist in town for many years, writing his own music, before teaming up with Heather in 2014 to form The Lone Canary. In addition to being a musician, Jesse is co-owner of Catalyst Design and Photography, a Rockford-based company. His lot in life is being surrounded by women — his beautiful wife, Alix, and their three daughters.

The Lone Canary has performed across the country. Since 2016, they have toured Colorado, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Missouri. Popular in Rockford, they’ve been featured performers at many local restaurants, country clubs, and private events. The Lone Canary has been nominated for several RAMI awards (Rockford Area Music Industry), won a prestigious “Open Mic” competition in the Atlanta area, and has written and recorded two full-length albums, a Christmas album, and an acoustic EP.
