I am currently volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help raise funds to support their mission to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with CF the opportunity to lead long, fulfilling lives. There are close to 40,000 children and adults in the United States today who are fighting cystic fibrosis—a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. Since its founding 70 years ago, the CF Foundation has made extraordinary progress. In the 1950s, people with cystic fibrosis weren’t expected to live long enough to attend elementary school. Today, people with CF are living into their 30s, 40s and beyond. The CF Foundation’s highly specialized system of care and unique research enterprise has resulted in more than 12 approved therapies and added decades of life for people with CF. Yet, the most important and challenging work is ahead of us. It will take many years and substantial investment to realize our shared dream of finding a cure so that every person with CF can live their best possible life.
