United ISD held a formal dedication and ribbon-cutting for Roberto J. Santos Elementary School on October 15, 2021. Santos ’66, an alumnus and seasoned education professional, marked this moment alongside his family, friends, and colleagues in Laredo.
During his time at United ISD, Santos has positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. Under his leadership, the school district earned a TEA “A” rating and created two early college programs with his team of administrators. Additionally, Santos successfully persuaded UISD voters to approve the 2013 district bond, which resulted in the construction of new schools, an aquatic center, and the SAC stadium.
