Volunteer Shout Out //
ESMERALDA "ESME" MORA '08

We'd like to give a shout out to
Esmeralda "Esme" Mora '08, who has been a Kenyon alumni volunteer since 2014. In her role as an alumni volunteer, she has worked with fellow Kenyon graduates from different class years, as well as Kenyon staff, to help improve curriculum decisions for the College.
"I chose to volunteer for Kenyon because it was a great place to attend college, build friendships and grow as a person. I want others to have a great experience as well."
Esme gives to the Kenyon Fund because the donations of someone else made a difference in her life and she wants to help support initiatives that otherwise might go unfunded. As a volunteer, she hopes to encourage more alumni to get involved and be active participants in the ever evolving culture of the College.
Esme was an international studies major at Kenyon. She now lives in Chicago where she works as a Spanish teacher and a founding director at the Language Learner Literacy Advisory Board. In her free time, she enjoys running and writing language learner literature. She is currently writing her third novel for Spanish classrooms and hopes to share her work with Kenyon students who are learning Spanish.
Thank you, Esme, for all you do to support Kenyon. We couldn't do this work without you and our entire group of dedicated alumni volunteers!
Volunteer Updates

Kenyon Fund Proposals in the Mail
Fundraising for the Kenyon Fund is gearing up for fall, with proposals from President Decatur in the mail right now to donors in our loyal and retain segments — that includes any of you who made a gift last year. (Thank you!) Our staff is also excited to help kick off a series of virtual reunion planning meetings for classes ending in 2 and 7, with an all-reunion committee Zoom tonight at 7 p.m. ET.

Regional Event Planning Underway
If you are a regional association volunteer who would like to host an in-person or virtual gathering, please reach out to Associate Director for Young Alumni Engagement Tristan Neviska ’13 at neviskatj@kenyon.edu to get started. Also, it’s not too soon to start planning your Kenyon holiday parties! If you have an alumni holiday event in mind, please reach out now so we can save the date.

Class Agent Program — Changes Coming!
We spent some time over the past year listening to our class agents, both one-on-one and in small groups. One piece of feedback we heard loud and clear is that you want to spend your volunteer hours doing more connecting and less fundraising. We hear you and we get it! And we will be making some changes to the program in response. While encouraging philanthropic support of Kenyon will remain an important pillar of our class agent program, we are working to create a menu of opportunities for peer-to-peer class agent outreach that is engagement focused. We are excited to roll out new goals (and tools!) in this area over the next several months.

THRIVING IN KENYON'S THIRD CENTURY  //  Kenyon’s bicentennial is less than three years away! If we made a list of things that would put the College on the firmest footing possible to thrive in its third century, increased resources for financial aid would be at the top of our list (more alumni engagement and a broader base of supporters would be up there too — hint, hint)! We will soon announce a tremendous opportunity to secure those resources and to bring more high-achieving students from families with limited means to Kenyon immediately. Your support will help make it possible. Stay tuned!
