Schools Can Reopen This Fall! 

Governor Andrew Cuomo gave New York's 700 school districts the green light to reopen in the fall, based on his data-driven formula. Exact plans for reopening are up to the individual districts, and "Parents have to be included and believe the plan makes sense. Teachers have to be included and believe the plan makes sense. They are the ultimate determination," Cuomo said. "If a teacher doesn't show up, you can't open the class. If a parent doesn't send their child there's no child to educate.

How Snapology Can Help 
While in-person teaching has its risks, pandemic pods, also known as micro-schools, allow the same group of children to be in contact with one another on a day-to-day basis, minimizing some of the risks of being exposed to a full classroom of students. As long as each family participating in the pod is practicing safe social distancing and wearing masks in public, this is one solution for parents to provide schooling, child care, and socialization to their children in a world where options are very limited.

Micro-schooling can look different from family to family, but the main goal is to provide students, whose schooling has been upended, with a structured, at-home learning experience led by an educator the family can trust. 

Several parents are organizing their own Pods, while others are looking to be paired with local families.  As schools plan to re-open, Snapology has configured the below options to best support your children in their primary and supplemental education endeavors. 
Hybrid Learning Option
Blended learning is an approach to education that combines online educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or pace.

In this format, parents must organize their own private pod. Snapology is unable to pair you with a family should you particiate in hybrid/blended learning. Snapology will then be able to assist in implementing the virtual learning program provided by your school district and/or provide the supplemental enrichment offerings listed below.

After-School In-Person Enrichment Option
After-School In-Person enrichment offers children the chance to socialize, learn, and play in a controlled, structured, and safe environment with the same continous group of students. Snapology will provide

  • Subject specific tutuoring
  • Unique S.T.E.A.M. Activities each day
  • Open Play/Social Connections

In this format, families must either organize their own pod or commit to only Virtual Learning during the day. When committing to only Virtual Learning, you are limiting the entire Pods exposure to outside risks. Snapology is unable to pair you with a family should you particiate in blended learning. Snapology will then be able to assist in implementing the virtual learning program provided by your school district and/or provide the supplemental enrichment offerings listed below.

Virtual Learning Option
A virtual learning environment is a Web-based platform for the digital aspects of courses of study, within educational institutions. Each school will present resources, activities and interactions within a course structure and provide for the different stages of assessment. In a 100% virtual learning enviroment, students will use the curriclum provided by their school district, but will not attend in-person classes.

In this format, Snapology can pair you with a Pod or parents can create their own priviate Pod. Snapology will then be able to assist in implementing the virtual learning program provided by your school district and/or provide supplemental enrichment offerings listed below.

Virtual After-School Option
We understand that the limitations of each of the learning options schools provide can be challenging for students and parents, so we are taking our popular Snapology STEAM classes and camps online! Snapology is offering daily online programs for students 4-14 either in 1- hour or multi-hour formats. We have adapted our curriculum so that your child can make their screen time count with engaging and enertaining STEAM enrichment!

  • 1 Hour STEAM Classes: Monday-Friday
  • Full 3 Hour After-School Programs: Monday-Friday
  • Speciality Workshops
  • Create your own virtual after-school pod or join an existing class at your leisure! 
These programs include plenty of activity breaks to make sure your child stays active and engaged. Most programs require about a gallon size bag of LEGO® bricks and there is no recurring committment. Try one class and stay for the full school year!

Where will programs be held?
Snapology programs can be held in an indoor location or an outside, open air space whenever possible. Depending on your pod location, Snapology can host your Pod either in home or in a rented, secure, and controlled classroom enviroment for incumbant weather days. Below are the current locations where Snapology has space available to host Pods should you not wish to host in-home:

What is the maximium Pod Size
The maximize size is 12 school aged children which is in line with the New York Health Departments guidelines.

Are your teachers licensed? 
Yes! All Snapology teachers are licensed accredited teachers who have passed national and statewide background checks along with Snapology's unique, thorough inhouse training program. When paired with a teacher, you will receive a copy of their credentials, resume, and references. 
Policies and Procedures and response to COVID 19
As concern around the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) rises, we want to assure you that health and safety remains our top priority. We are monitoring the situation and will continue our regular illness prevention protections which include consistent cleaning and disinfecting of our space, toys, and frequently touched surfaces. Each Snapology team member is required to complete an employment safety agreement specifically related to COVID 19 and a list of policies and procedures can be provided upon request.
