Snapology of McHenry is excited to hire new Teachers/Instructors to add to our amazing team of Snapologists this Summer! If you love working with children and want to encourage their love of all things STEAM, then we'd like to talk to you.
Instructors travel to our client's locations or to our Discovery Center at 1112 N Green St in downtown McHenry to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEAM concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 3-14, although not all instructors are required to teach all age groups. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.
Role & Responsibilities:
Lead students through curriculum-guided activities
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Snapology
May respond to in person inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs and encourage future enrollment
Participate in Snapology training & staff meetings and adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment
Education degree or teaching experience recommended, but individuals who love teaching or are interested in pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position
A positive attitude and ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
Requirements
Criminal and Child Background Checks must be completed if not current
Child Safety Training
Valid driver's license and proof of insurance as travel is required for this position

Depending on the time of year, our team members typically work anywhere from 2-35 hours per week, based on their availability and customer demand. In addition to summer camps, other opportunities may be presented such as weekend birthday parties, special events, holiday and break workshops, weekday after-school and/or evening classes.
