10 News Sydney interviewed Professor Thomas Maschmeyer from Sydney Nano and the School of Chemistry about the installation on campus, as part of the Sustainability Strategy, of solar Smart Benches that use his battery technology developed by University spin-off company Gelion. Climate Control News reported there are two finalists in the HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration) leadership awards, Energy Savings & Sustainability category, being City of Sydney Mayor Clover Moore as well as Professor Thomas Maschmeyer from the School of Physics, referred to as the man behind the battery technology that powers the solar benches on campus, as part of our Sustainability Strategy. Winners will be announced on 12 November.
