Dr. Thomas Dobie continued...

In his long and distinguished career he held the posts of Research Professor in Mechanical Engineering and Clinical Professor of Biology at the University of New Orleans; Adjunct Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and Principal Research Fellow in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds in Great Britain. He then became Professor, Director and Human Engineering Head of the National Biodynamics Laboratory, College of Engineering at the University of New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina flooded its laboratories which were located at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility. He continued to contribute to the education of engineering students at UNO with courses on Human Factors Engineering well into his nineties.

Besides three doctoral titles, Dr. Dobie earned many honorary titles. Among them Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) and fellow in several professional societies. Our condolences and thoughts go out to his wife and children. He will be greatly missed.
