The most important and expensive event of the school year is the annual ASCE Gulf Coast Student Symposium, hosted by the University of Southern Alabama. The conference allows UNO Engineering students to work as a team solving engineering problems while competing against other schools. These require students to plan, fabricate, and test their designs in two main competitions, the Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge, based on competition specifications.
