UNO Center for Latin American Studies in Brazil continued...

Students and faculty had the opportunity to learn first-hand from members of the Juruna indigenous group about the ways their communities have been impacted by the many social transformations and environmental effects of the hydroelectric development project as well as engage in several cultural exchanges between New Orleanians and Brazilian indigenous rights activists throughout the trip.
The Center for Latin American Studies produced two videos detailing Anthropology major Sophia Mullen’s summer research experience and the collaboration with the Biocultural Institute which can be viewed by clicking on the links below. Be sure to like and subscribe the Center’s Youtube and Facebook pages to receive notifications about our summer travel opportunities and campus activities.
