Spotlight the Employer Highlights continued ...
Ernst & Young

Ernst & Young

Ernst and Young presented Accounting: Audit Your Personal Brand. Representatives Garrett Ryan, Emily Chuter and Antonio Imbornone gave the students major takeaways about how to build their resumes, business relationships and the benefits of networking. They announced E&Y Fall Internship program due dates for winter and spring. Nearly 40 students attended the event to meet the employers, build their skills, and learn about career opportunities. COBA has a long-standing relationship with E&Y, as they specifically seek out UNO undergraduate and graduate students.
Northwestern Mutual, Jordyn Eaton

Northwestern Mutual

On Sept. 12, Northwestern Mutual representative Jordyn Eaton attended Instructor Gordon Payne’s Business Management class to talk about personal branding. Later that day, Ms. Eaton also hosted the Spotlight the Employer luncheon in Kirschman Hall, which students eagerly attended to learn about the benefits of internships. Ms. Eaton is Northwestern’s Associate development officer of College Marketing & Development, and the internship opportunity she introduces to the students is one of the most fruitful for the College of Business Administration undergraduates, as many of them are interested in finance, insurance and accounting and are drawn to the program.
Canal Barge Company, Inc.

Canal Barge Company, Inc.

On Sept. 19, Canal Barge Company, Inc. representatives Graham Wogan and Nicole Miranda spoke to Dr. Hao Su’s class on Supply Chain, Operations and Logistics (SCOL). Canal Barge is a 90-year-old privately owned company in New Orleans that has 22 shoreside employees who attended UNO for their undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. The company also hosted the Spotlight the Employer event later that day and announced they hire graduates of logistics and offer office jobs and internship opportunities for students who want to start their careers in the logistics industry. Mr. Wogan stated, “We want to grow our connection with UNO; they work hard, want to stay in the area and are good producers.”
The Business Career Coaching Center (BCCC) and the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Office designed Spotlight the Employer to allow students to meet employers while offering companies and professional groups a chance to recruit UNO students. The BCCC has a full calendar of Spotlight the Employer lunches lined up this semester.
If your company or professional group would like to host a luncheon on campus in future semesters, please email bizcareers@uno.edu.
