Funded by the National Science Foundation, the “International Research Experiences for Students” is a partnership program between UNO and the Water Institute of the Gulf. Maddie Foster-Martinez, assistant professor in EES, serves as principal investigator; Matt Tarr, a professor in Chemistry, is a co-PI; and Chris Esposito, research scientist at the Water Institute and UNO alumnus, is also a co-PI. With a total of $399,718 in funding, the grant will support training opportunities in summer 2022, 2023 and 2024 for 14 Ph.D. students selected from universities across the country.
