Spotlight the Employer continued ...

Paul Gibson
, Cemilia Shaw and Ryan Hamilton represented Gallagher and answered questions from students who were inquiring about job and internship opportunities and job descriptions.
Valbridge

Valbridge Property Advisors hosted the October 3 Spotlight the Employer event. Daniel Schwertz, operations manager for Valbridge of Louisiana, presented to students. Valbridge is the largest independent commercial property valuation and advisory service in the U.S.
Assisting Schwertz was Mitchell Ledet, a UNO student who interned at Valbridge and is now part of the team as a researcher. They told students about their job opportunities.
“Thinking about all the reasons to become an appraiser, it’s hard to pick just one,” Schwertz said. He continued, “As a dying industry, we need fresh blood. We want college students to consider this career and want to give them job opportunities to boost diversity and liven up the industry.”
Postlewaite & Netterville
Postlethwaite & Netterville, an EisnerAmper accounting and advisory firm, hosted the spotlight event on October 17, where Terrence Marshall, Maxwell Eysink and James Vorhoff presented to students.
Postlethwaite & Netterville, who services accounting, tax and other business needs, merged with EisnerAmper recently, so their discussion entailed topics like how and why companies merge, how to interview for jobs, answering common interview questions and current job listings for their company.
The BCCC announced its Jobs Board online, where students can find out current, updated job openings around the New Orleans area.
The Business Career Coaching Center (BCCC) and the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Office designed Spotlight the Employer to allow students to meet employers while offering companies and professional groups a chance to recruit UNO COBA students. The BCCC has a full calendar of Spotlight the Employer lunches lined up this semester. If your company or professional group would like to host a luncheon on campus in future semesters, please email bizcareers@uno.edu.
