COS Faculty Member of the Year continued ...
Dr. Samuel joined UNO in 2017 and has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is the director of the Light Lab where his research focuses on interactive narrative, AI-driven game design, social simulation and computationally assisted performance. He is known for his commitment to engaging and supporting students, having mentored many undergraduate students through the Tolmas Scholars Program and serving as the faculty advisor for the International Game Developer’s Association.
In his nomination, it was noted that feedback from students unanimously pointed to his class and research meetings being held with an open mind and congeniality that makes all students, regardless of background, feel comfortable, welcome and encouraged to try their best.
