BCCC Spotlight the Employer continued ...

Later in the day, Vice President of the Louisiana Quality Foundation Dr. Ron Schulingkamp gave a lecture on the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, a national-level performance enhancement framework. He spoke to a Business Communication class and to the weekly session of the BCCC spotlight event, where he taught students about the value of improving the self to improve the company and accomplish excellence. 
Arielle Desse, senior public affairs manager for New Orleans and Company, visited campus to host the week’s spotlight. She represented the company’s hospitality and embodied the company’s brand: to highlight the community-based culture of New Orleans, including more than 89,000 employees working directly in the tourism industry. New Orleans and Company values giving every visitor the feeling of being right at home in our town of warm cultural quality.
On Nov. 1, the Business Career Coaching Center held “Resumania” for the first time. Students came to Kirschman Hall with their resumes in hand to get advice from career coaches, advisors and teachers including Dr. Cherie Trumbach, Instructor Susan Clade, Dr. Dinah Payne, and Dean Pamela Kennett-Hensel. Visiting one-on-one, students were able to get professional advice and walk away with improved resumes.
Nicole Parks, management supervisor for PETERMAYER hosted Spotlight the Employer, on Tuesday, Nov. 7. She spoke about the recent changes at the powerhouse advertising agency, which is now a woman-owned business. Parks discussed various ad campaigns the agency has done and the departments their interns are exposed to at the agency.
On Nov. 14, Gulf Coast Bank representatives spoke for the final Spotlight the Employer event of the year. Vice President and Director of Wealth Management Jason King presented on the topic of Investments (Wealth Management). Vice President and Director of Talent Acquisition & Development Carlos Bello answered students' questions regarding internships and company benefits. With more than 25 students attending, the final spotlight event of the year was a success.
The Business Career Coaching Center (BCCC) and the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Office designed Spotlight the Employer to allow students to meet employers while offering companies and professional groups a chance to recruit UNO students. The BCCC had a full calendar of Spotlight the Employer lunches lined up this semester.
