Engineering Day continued...
In addition to demonstrations by our student chapters of NSBE, SNAME, ASCE, IEEE, ASME and the Mini-Baja Team, the following companies and organizations participated:
- Advanced Materials Research Institute (AMRI)
- DSC Dredge
- Entergy
- Greater New Orleans STEM Initiative
- Ingalls Shipbuilding
- Intralox
- Laser Interferometric Gravitation Observatory LIGO
- Louisiana Engineering Society
- Louisiana Engineering Society - New Orleans Chapter
- NASA Stennis Space Center
- PBF Energy - Chalmette Refining Company
- Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans
- The Beach at UNO
- The Boeing Company
- The National WWII Museum
- US Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District
Our goal for this event was to introduce students to engineering as a career and the engineering programs we offer at UNO. The participating companies, organizations and RASCOE students joined hundreds, if not thousands, of others nationwide to make a difference. They showed a commitment to engaging middle and high school students, celebrated how engineers make a difference and added to the conversation about the need for engineers, technicians and technologists. A special thank you to these people who went above and beyond to make this event possible: Kim Jovanovich, Lisa Shubert Grass, Sean Edgley, Dimitrios Charalampidis and Glenn Scorsone!
