Dr. Akyuzlu Retirement continued...
His commitment to teaching and research has not only advanced the field of mechanical engineering but has also inspired countless students and colleagues alike.
During his distinguished career, Professor Akyuzlu has made significant strides in the experimental and numerical study of rocket motors, two phase flow, numerical modeling of combustion for instabilities with application to rocket exhaust, Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurement and many more. Dr. Akyuzlu has been widely published in ASME, AIAA and other prestigious journals and has presented extensively at major ASME and AIAA conferences. He received funding from NASA for his rocket motor work and from the Office of Naval Research for the development of a robotic eel with Dr. Brandon Taravella from the School of Naval Architecture.
In the classroom, Dr. Akyuzlu was known for his engaging teaching style, challenging coursework and genuine dedication to student learning. Many alumni recognize the significance of his classes well into their careers.
