BCCC Spotlight the Employer continued ...


She presented to 40+ students on appropriate fashion decisions for professionalism on the job and for workplace interviews to provide students with guidelines for “professional attire, footwear and accessories.”
The organization also provides career services to help job-ready people “identify professional goals, guide job searches, craft superior resumes and cover letters, and conduct mock interviews.” 

On September 10, the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF) Kick-Off was held to recruit UNO students for exciting volunteer opportunities and paid positions for Super Bowl 2025 in New Orleans next February.
Craig Forshag, sales director for the GNO Sports Foundation, talked with students about opportunities to manage 1,500+ "krewe" workers and volunteers who will promote the Super Bowl throughout the city. They will work closely with GNOF leadership, serving as essential support for volunteer management. 
Phillip May '92, president and CEO of Entergy Louisiana, LLC, hosted the Spotlight the Employer event on September 17. Entergy supplies power to a million+ customers in Louisiana and is one of only two Fortune 500 in the state. May received his MBA from UNO in 1992 and was awarded the 2019 University of New Orleans Homer L. Hitt Distinguished Alumni Award.
May presented to a large group of students about the value of following every opportunity. “The more people you meet, the more opportunities you find,” he said. “Every collision can be an opportunity. Networks and connections are critical and can make you successful.”
He also talked about how Entergy thrives on the success of the whole community. “If we can better benefit our community through enabling economic development, poverty alleviation and promoting accessible education, it can help us thrive and give opportunities to our community to thrive.”

Entergy internships are available now, and applications close in November. Full-time job opportunities are regularly available since the company employs more than 12,000 people in Louisiana. May said “While Entergy is a company that uses and encourages volunteer work, internships and paid positions  engineers, attorneys, accountants, etc. — are always available.”

The Business Career Coaching Center (BCCC) and the College of Business Undergraduate Advising Office designed Spotlight the Employer to allow students to meet employers while offering companies and professional groups a chance to recruit UNO COBA students. The BCCC has a full calendar of Spotlight the Employer lunches lined up this semester.
