They were assisted by historians from The National WWII Museum and volunteers and DPAA partner archaeologists from the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Mendoza, Argentina.

Past UNO partner projects with the DPAA have resulted in the identification and recovery of 3 U.S. airmen lost in WWII. This summer’s international team will help fulfill the agency’s mission of making the fullest possible accounting of missing American service members.
