Donor Spotlight: Levitetz Family Foundation
The Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation is pleased to share that the Levitetz Family Foundation has made a second generous seven-figure gift to sustain the Charles Levitetz Advanced Symptom Support and Individualized Care (CLASSIC) program, which they initially funded five years ago. This program has become essential to treating the whole patient with compassionate and comprehensive cancer care.
CLASSIC offers extra support for patients undergoing treatment at Lynn Cancer Institute. It is one of the area’s only outpatient palliative care programs. The program’s goal is to help patients feel better so that they can continue to complete their treatment plan.
The CLASSIC Program helps patients manage symptoms and side effects of cancer and cancer treatment. The CLASSIC team is available to meet with all Lynn Cancer Institute patients regardless of diagnosis or treatment stage.
They can help patients cope with cancer side effects such as:
- Pain
- Poor appetite or other eating changes
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Anxiety and depression
- Sleep issues
- Breathing problems
The team can also help with other aspects of cancer treatment, such as:
- Decisions around treatment options
- Financial stresses of treatment
- Advance care planning
- Spiritual counseling
When patients come to the Lynn Cancer Institute CLASSIC Program, they can expect the following:
- Seamless coordinated care with a cancer team; the team works together with all of the necessary doctors and healthcare providers to make sure the patient can feel as good as possible
- A team that specializes in helping patients cope with the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual effects of cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Compassionate, respectful support through every step of the cancer journey
Programs like CLASSIC are critical to our patients' overall well-being, and they are fully funded by the extraordinary generosity of our community. Again, we thank the Levitetz Family Foundation for their incredible gift to the Lynn Cancer Institute!
