Becker’s Hospital Review Recognizes the
Marcus Neuroscience Institute as Standout Facility
Boca Raton Regional Hospital has exceptional news regarding the Marcus Neuroscience Institute (MNI) and the Miami Neuroscience Institute. Becker’s Hospital Review has recognized both world-class Baptist institutes as part of its prestigious list of 100 Great Neuro and Spine Programs. This recognition is a testament to the outstanding contributions our teams have made in the fields of neuroscience and spine care.
The Marcus Neuroscience Institute has earned this distinction for its exceptional patient outcomes, advanced surgical techniques, and groundbreaking research initiatives. Notably, MNI is the first DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center in Palm Beach County and has garnered attention for its innovative use of AI in streamlining stroke care. The Institute’s research efforts, supported by over $5 million in funding, have led to promising collaborations with renowned institutions such as Duke University and Scripps Research, contributing to the development of transformative treatments like high-intensity focused ultrasound for essential tremors. A special thank you to Dr. Tim Miller and the team at Boca Clinic for all of their work with the HIFU service.
MNI’s commitment to excellence is further reflected in impressive statistics, including a median door-to-needle time of just 18.9 minutes for stroke care and a reduction in surgical site infections to only one in 346 procedures. These achievements are a direct result of the vision, leadership, and dedication of Dr. Warren Selman, Wendy Elliot, and the entire team. Boca Regional also wants to specifically recognize the efforts of Dr. Brian Snelling, Dr. Farrah Wolf, and Dr. Doug DeOrchis along with the stroke team - from our pre-hospital partners to our ER team, including the physicians, nurses, paramedics, and techs - to our stroke coordinators, our neurologists, our Imaging department, our radiologists, the pharmacy and our IR techs and nurses. Achieving such remarkable metrics in stroke patients takes a lot of effort from many people to ensure early recognition and FAST treatment.
This achievement underscores the importance of our ongoing commitment to providing top-tier care, advancing medical research, and maintaining the highest standards of excellence.
