Staff from the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute were thrilled to honor the arrival of a second state-of-the-art mobile mammography van. The $1.2 million Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan was made possible through the generosity of the Morgan Pressel Foundation and members of St. Andrews Country Club.
The new Mammovan is a smaller, more compact version of the current van, which will enable us to visit locations where it was previously not possible. The MammoVans will travel throughout South Florida, expanding access to early breast cancer detection services and providing vital breast health education. Each mobile unit features a private, customized exam suite equipped with advanced 3D mammography technology in a calm, patient-centered environment.
The existing MammoVan has traveled more than 10,000 miles annually, visiting nearly 150 sites each year. Since its launch in 2010, it has performed over 21,000 mammograms and helped diagnose 70 women with breast cancer.
