Academic Resources for Support

University Learning Commons (ULC): provides FREE tutoring and academic support for SJU undergraduate students. Students are strongly encouraged to create an account by accessing the ULC widget on the single sign-on (SSO) page, to take advantage of the tutoring which is available in many subjects.

Peer Tutoring: available for in-person or online appointments Monday-Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm/ Fridays from 9:00am-2:00pm. Evening online appointments are available from Sunday-Thursday 5:00pm-8:00pm.  

ULC/NetTutor: HW Help, drop-in sessions & appointments are available in a variety of subjects, and are accessed (some 24/7) by enrolling in this canvas course ULC/NetTutor Additional Remote Support

In addition to tutoring, students can visit the ULC space to; meet 1:1 with a member of the Academic Achievement Team ULC Academic Strategy Sessions to discuss academic strategies for time management, organization, study skills, college reading, etc., reserve a group room for projects/group work, engage in quiet study, participate in workshops & skills labs, and join collaboratives (select Math/Chem. courses only) | St. Augustine Hall (library), room 103 | Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. in person and 6–10 p.m. online; Friday 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. In person; Sunday 6–10 p.m. online

University Writing Center: offers hour-long sessions for help with writing assignments in person or online; also offers e-tutoring | St. Augustine Hall (library), room 150 | Monday and Tuesday 9 a.m.–7 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; Friday 9–3 p.m.  

University Libraries: provides in-person and virtual research assistance and 24/7 access to online resources. Student Accessibility Services: aids students with all types of conditions (including physical and learning disabilities, temporary injuries, and chronic illnesses) to access educational resources at St. John’s. Marillac Hall, room 134 | Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; Friday 8:30 a.m.–3 p.m. 
Student Financial Services (SFS): Located in Bent Hall across from Carnesecca Arena—provides one‑stop support with understanding college costs, managing financial aid, and handling billing and payments. Services include help with grants, scholarships, loans, work‑study, billing questions, payment plans, account issues, and financial‑circumstance changes.
