Harley-Davidson has been going fast and loud for over 115 years now. But you might be surprised to learn about their beginnings. It all started because Bill Harley and Art Davidson wanted to go fishing.
To be accurate, they wanted a faster, easier way to get to the fishing pond. But back then cars were too expensive and bicycles required physical exertion. People were putting motors in bicycle frames, but when the boys came to a hill they found they found that they still had to peddle... and that just wasn't going to work.
So they went back to the drawing board to make a larger, more powerful motor. Once that was complete, Bill, Art and now Walter Davidson (William would join later to make the fab four) then made a frame loop around it. And violá - success!! The Founding Fathers of Harley-Davidson® were on their way to creating the legendary motorcycles we have today.
