Dear Vanderbilt parents,
We hope your student is experiencing an intellectually engaging and socially enriching semester through opportunities to progress in academic work and explore co-curricular activities, such as student organizations, service initiatives, guest lectures and artistic performances. At the same time, we know your student’s schedule can also be challenging and demanding. For many students, college is their first foray into developing a work-life balance and managing their health and wellness independently.
In order to fully support the health and wellness needs of all our students, Vanderbilt University launched the Student Care Network in July 2018, which is composed of four primary on-campus offices: the Office of Student Care Coordination, the Center for Student Wellbeing, the Student Health Center and the University Counseling Center.
This holistic network of resources also includes a wealth of services divided into nine wellness categories: physical, emotional, spiritual, social, financial, vocational, sexual, intellectual, and cultural and identity. Students can explore their resources online or schedule an appointment with a Student Care Coordinator from the Office of Student Care Coordination to review their wellness needs and seek referrals to on-campus offices or services in the Nashville community.
At Vanderbilt, we place a priority on your student’s health and wellness. If you need tips for talking with your student about wellness or have questions about the resources available to your student, do not hesitate to call the Office of Student Care Coordination at (615) 343-WELL (9355).
We wish you and your student a healthy and happy holiday season, and we look forward to helping your student succeed in their scholarly pursuits and personal life during the remainder of the academic year.
Best regards,
G. L. Black
Associate Dean of Students

The Office of Student Care Coordination (OSCC) is the first and central point of contact for any undergraduate, graduate or professional student who may have an academic, personal, emotional, medical or other health concern. Student Care Coordinators assess each student’s needs and connect students to the most appropriate resources within Vanderbilt’s Student Care Network or the Nashville community. Care Coordination is not counseling or therapy, but rather the opportunity to develop close helping relationships with students while coaching them toward appropriate resources, self-care and self-advocacy. Scheduling an Appointment: Students can schedule their initial appointment by completing the Student Care Coordination Intake Form. Follow-up appointments may be scheduled by calling (615) 343-WELL (9355).
