Putting COVID Numbers and
Vaccinations into Context

Numbers, especially large numbers, can often be difficult to visualize. So The Joint Commission’s Research Department put the COVID numbers into context to see the “bigger picture.” The chart below is just one visual representation that TJC put together of COVID deaths since January 2020. Healthy Merits 2022

Employees enrolled in the Woman’s Hospital Health Plan qualify for participation in the 2022 Healthy Merits Wellness Program. Healthy Merits participants are eligible to receive cash incentives of up to $250/year as well as a $10/pay period discount on health premiums for 2022.
To participate in Healthy Merits, employees must complete the Age Gage and biometric screening blood work by Nov. 30. More information about Open Enrollment for the 2022 year coming soon.

Birth Ready Designation

Woman’s Hospital is one of 16 hospitals state-wide to receive the new Louisiana Birth Ready designation by the Louisiana Department of Health and the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC) for committing to practices that improve quality and outcomes for persons giving birth. Birth Ready Designation is given to hospitals that meet certain criteria in promoting safe, equitable, and dignified birth for all birthing persons in Louisiana. There are five areas of requirement for designation: participation in collaborative learning; health disparity and patient partnership; policies and procedures; structures and education; and outcome and process measures. Flu Shots

Today was the last day of extended hours in Employee Health for flu shots. If you were not able to come by during extended hours - no worries! Employee Health will continue to distribute flu vaccines during their normal office hours, Monday-Friday, 6:45 AM-3:15 PM, while supplies last. Employees who do not receive the flu vaccine are required to complete a declination form by Nov. 10. Contact Employee Health at 924-8144 with any questions.

Amanda Spencer, RN
Nurse Manager

Long-time Woman’s nurse Amanda Spencer has accepted the position of Nurse Manager in the Assessment Center. For the past 16 years at Woman’s, she has progressed her career in Labor and Delivery as a nurse tech, RN and preceptor, then in OR as the primary charge nurse. Amanda has 14 years of OB nurse experience and is a certified inpatient OB nurse.
