In a time when the cost of higher education continues to rise and places added pressure on many students; Cedar Crest identified a need for immediate use scholarships—unrestricted scholarships that bridge the gap between traditional financial aid and the actual cost of attending college. Recognizing that financial barriers often interrupt or completely derail a student’s educational journey, Cedar Crest is proud to announce the Pathways to Possibility Scholarship program, allowing students from all socioeconomic backgrounds to receive the transformational education offered at Cedar Crest. Pathways to Possibility Scholarship awards typically range from $500 to $5,000 per student and may be applied to tuition, fees, room, board, or other direct education costs, supporting incoming first-year, transfer, returning, and graduate students alike who have exhausted all other available aid while trying to cross the finish line towards a rewarding professional career.
Gillian Pidcock ’04, trustee and alumna, commenced this exciting program with a generous gift, establishing the Gillian Pidcock ’04 Pathways to Possibility Scholarship Fund. Pathways scholarships allow students enduring financial hardship not only to pursue their dreams, but also to stay engaged in their academic work, build leadership skills, and discover their passions at the College. This initiative does more than retain current students—it strengthens Cedar Crest’s ability to attract future generations of leaders who might otherwise question whether college is financially within reach. A program like this can truly make the difference between withdrawing from classes and ultimately earning a degree.
Gillian Pidcock ’04 reflects on her generous impact: “I know there have been many times in Cedar Crest’s history where alums and trustees have stepped up in a big way to support the College and our students when it was needed most. I felt like it was my turn to make a difference, and I am so grateful to be able to do this for Cedar Crest.” Her words capture exactly why this program matters—because when one member of the community steps forward, the ripple effect extends across classrooms, career paths, and entire futures.
It is through the generosity of donors, like Gillian, that our steadfast community continues to thrive in the wake of uncertainties. Our students can immediately feel the impact of these scholarships, opening doors that might otherwise remain closed, making education accessible at the very moment students need support the most. Gillian is a shining example of the impact donors can have on the next generation of leaders, strengthening not only their ability to remain enrolled, but also their confidence as emerging professionals.
