H4HC
Register as a Hearts for Home Care Advocate and Get a Chance to Win!
All nurses, therapists, aides, habilitation technicians, and behavioral health professionals who work in home care have an amazing opportunity to magnify their voices by becoming a Hearts for Home Care (H4HC) Advocate!
H4HC is an advocacy organization made up of thousands of home care clients, their friends and family members, and home care professionals concerned about the challenges facing the industry today. The more voices that speak up in support of home care, the better we can protect the industry and the millions of US residents in need of this critical care. If politicians, media, and key decisionmakers aren’t aware of the challenges facing home care today—and the essential benefit it provides to our most vulnerable populations—they won’t be part of the solution.
Please join thousands of your BAYADA colleagues by becoming a H4HC Advocate today. Together, we will fight to give home care the attention and support it deserves. Click here to register as a H4HC Advocate today!
All who register as a H4HC Advocate between August 1 and August 10 will be entered into our giveaway! 1 of every 50 registrants will receive a “Swag Box”—including a t-shirt, insulated metal mug, plastic tumbler with a straw, a first-aid kit, and a flash drive—and one lucky registrant will receive a Yeti cooler!

Connie
H4HC Advocate Spotlight
Recently, H4HC Advocates were urging the Delaware legislature to increase home care rates under the state’s Medicaid Managed Long-Term Services and Supports program by 18 percent. Central Delaware (CD) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Connie Burks participated in an interview to help illustrate the importance of home care and why this increase is essential.
In a Delaware State News article, Connie explains, “I have been in this industry a long time, and I have trained countless people who, once they see the work that is involved in this job and the time you have to put in to make ends meet, immediately quit because they can make more money at Amazon or McDonald’s.”
While we haven’t reached our 18 percent goal yet, we have secured a moderate increase, thanks to advocates like Connie.

Sunburn
BAYADA Safe Practice Alert: Avoiding Sunburn
Our clients depend on our expertise to help them have a safe home life with comfort, independence, and dignity. It is our responsibility at BAYADA to protect our clients from harm while providing high-quality clinical care.

With the summer months in full swing, it is important to remember to use sun protection for our clients and limit sun exposure, especially for our medically frail clients and those on medication that makes them more susceptible to sunburn.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the following recommendations can help protect our clients from sunburn:
  • Use 30-50 SPF sunblock that blocks both UVA and UVB rays.
  • Re-apply every two hours and after swimming.
  • Check expiration dates on sunblock products, as expired products are less effective.
  • Cover the most vulnerable areas such as the ears, neck, tip of the nose, and the tops of hands and feet.
  • For lotion-sensitive clients, long sleeves, umbrellas, and hats can be used for protection.
  • Be mindful of hot outdoor surfaces, such as playground equipment, railings, and pavement.
Thank you for helping ensure that our clients remain safe at home!
